Small Cowrie Shell

from £36.00

My cowrie shell charms are made from 100% recycled sterling silver and are lovingly handmade in Cornwall. Each one is an exact replica of a real Cornish cowrie I have found whilst beach-coming the beautiful Cornish coastline and represent our deep connection to the ocean. The method of metal casting I use captures all the beautiful details of the shell and creates a wearable piece of tranquility and natural beauty to carry with you everywhere you go.

Cowrie shells have been used in jewellery for thousands of years and are globally recognised as symbols of protection and good luck. We have two species native to the UK, the European Cowrie (Trivia monarcha) and the Northern Cowrie (Trivia arctica). When crafting my pieces I only use shells I have found myself empty on the tideline as it is the only way I can be sure of their origin and ensure no animal has died just for its shell. After working for many years in marine conservation I am acutely aware of the damage being done to our environment and ecosystems by the global trade in wildlife. This experience gives me a unique perspective and drives my dedication to creating environmentally friendly jewellery. Increasing my sustainability and encouraging eco-conscious consumerism is at the heart of everything I do.

I have two sizes of cowrie shell, this smaller one measures ~9mm from top to bottom and is solid recycled sterling silver ensuring quality and durability. It is available as a charm only to add to your own chain or add on a solid silver belcher chain in your choice of length. Each piece of my jewellery comes in recycled/recyclable eco-friendly packaging. A complimentary non-toxic chemical free polishing cloth is also enclosed, I recommend using this regularly to maintain the silvers high-polished shine.

My silver Cornish cowries are perfect for those who value sustainability and elegance, combining natures beauty with eco-friendly craftsmanship. Order now to add this beautiful Cornish shell to your collection.
